Deep Fear

Deep Fear is a game that any one who owns a SATURN should run out and buy A.S.A.P and if you don't own a SATURN(shame on you) you should go to the nearest gaming store and buy one. This game in my opion is up for import game of the year for the SATURN. Many people who own a SATURN are probably saying how can I play a game of this magnatude and not know a lick of japanese, well fear not (no pun intended) this killer game is 90% in english and in japanese sub-titles(YES)!

Now to get to the meat of this review, the game is based on a RESIDENT EVIL engine and the controls are almost identical. The story takes place in an underwater naval base that is 300 meters below the surface where no one can hear you scream! The game itself has frighting atmosphere that has you looking around the next corner. The background sounds and music only add to the mood set of the game. Deep Fear has you completing many diffrent tasks all over the naval base and in a submerged submarine where you are required to find and use a divers H2O breathing mask(REAL COOL)!

The weapons in the game are a nice mix, you start off with the trusty 9mm and later in the game you can get two types of shotgun's,a tek 9 and mack 10, not to mention a gun that resemble's a pulse rifle from ALIENS(this little mother holds 650 plus rounds) talk about firepower. There are three types of hand grenades in the game, you have your typical exploding grenades then you have a stun grenade and lastly you have an oxygen type grenade that restores the H2O on some of the levels of the game.

The one thing that I can say for the game is that the makers of the DEEP FEAR answered many of the complants that gamers had with RESIDENT EVIL, such as enough ammo, the amount of saves and the all to useful health sprays. In DEEP FEAR you can carry up to eight(8) health sprays(3) types, you can refill your ammo as many times as necessary (finally!) and you can saves as much as you want.

The monsters in DEEP FEAR are very well designed and fit in really well with the underwater environment that make up the game. The backgrounds of DEEP FEAR had me speachless when I first played the game. I have not seen backgrounds of this quality since FINAL FANTASY 7 or the awsome PARASITE EVE. When you see this game in action you will say "I can't belive this is a SATURN game". It's a shame though, games like this could have really kicked ass in this country and possibly saved the SATURN in AMERICA.

Well fear not fellow SEGA fan's, a new age is dawning in the form of the DREAMCAST and we will have the last laugh!(SONY,NINTENDO) Finally the gaming public will be kissing the ass of SEGA!!!!
