I only bought Bug Too because it was really cheap and I was
quite surprised at it.Now that I think of it, I bought the original Bug
for the same reason. A bit of deja vu? Maybe....
The Graphics for Bug Too are excellent. The colors and artistic flare
that have been used are 1st class. I didn't like how it always zoomed out
because at times it made it hard to see what the hell was going on. and
sometimes the scrolling seemed to stop (in Antennae Day) making jumping
leaps of faith.
Sound wise this game is brilliant. The Music is outrageous! I
particularly like Weevil Dead2 and Lawrence of Arachnia. The sound effects
and speech are very classy and very very amusing. Hearing a snake like
creature scream "Die western bug die! Come again" in a somewhat Indian
accent, is very funny.
Controls are just as you would expect. Move your insect around. Jump
when you have to and fire green stuff at enemies when needed. However, you
can now run and hover for a brief but precious moment which I think is
very useful.
The Fun Factor for Bug Too is ho hum. It depends on what type of person
you are. I enjoy this game because of the ludicrously and its simple but
effective gameplay. If the jokes don't work for you the game may be
boring. This is one game that will either hit or miss with players and it
was a hit for me, but as I said before I like ludicrously and it depends
on whether you like the atmosphere.
Lastability, This game is big. I have no real idea how many levels and
bonus levels there are but there are quite a few and the normal levels are
considerably hefty. And did I mention that it also has a very good
difficulty level i.e. hard. I am unsure whether one will play it again
after it is beaten, The multiple routes through levels may entice a few
gamers back and the insanity of the graphics and sound will be a lure as
well. I think I would play it again but not much. If it had a few secrets
I would definitely play it. But unfortunately Sega don't understand that
secrets really help a game to last longer.
Overall, I think it was a good purchase. Its nice to see that Sega can
make a game with balls(difficulty).
