Many people have pointed fingers at Bernie Stolar. Is he a Sony spy? Did he kill the Saturn on purpose? Will he lead Sega to its doom? NO, to put it bluntly. Any talk like that would be pretty immature. When at a press release Mr Stolar said “the Saturn is not the future of Sega” many people’s heart’s sank. Did this mean that he was doing a half-assed job and quite frankly couldn’t give a stuff? He was actually telling the truth, the future of Sega is with the Dreamcast, or whatever is further down the road for us Sega loyalists. Many people were outraged when Tom Kalinske was demoted and Bernie Stolar left Sony to become SOA president. After all, Mr Kalinske did release the Megadrive/Genesis which was highly successful. BUT he also released the Mega/Sega-CD and 32X which both ended up with a huge fiasco. I’m not dumping all of the blame on Tom, however, because I believe that he was a good leader....for a while. Now, let’s get back to Bernie. He was the person responsible for the release of the highly successful PSX. Therefore, he knows what he is doing when it comes to releasing a successful system - marketing, price, games, 3rd Parties etc. He is not the only one who makes the decisions so he was not wholly responsible for the demise of our beloved Saturn. So, fellow Sega-heads let us change our ways and learn to forget those awful days when Sega were releasing the Mega-CD, 32X, and the Saturn. Let us learn to like the new president, Bernie Stolar for he is leading the company in the right direction towards a successful venture in the next generation console wars! -- Written By Adam |
