U.S. DREAMCAST VFTB
WISH LIST
A few changes and modifications to pray for when
Sega of America releases VFtb at launch:
- A Versus Mode: how hard could this be?!
- Tweaked graphics: more polygons, better texturing, redrawn 2D bitmap
backgrounds (with an increased color palette please!).
- Character endings; I almost wouldn't mind if Sega just recycled some
of the character CG CDs they produced for the Saturn--of course, two
more should be made for Aoi and Taka.
- A better Training mode with more customizable options. For example,
there should be an option that allows for every attack to hit as a major
counter, so players can practice MC only combos. Also, there should
definitely be an option where the CPU doesn't attack and stays
motionless, blocking the next hit if not a combo, a la the Street
Fighter Alpha series' training mode. The Training Mode in Fighters
Megamix is also a pretty good idea--training each character's moves so
players can practice timing and execution.
- An extra stage that is just flat and limitless (or at least nearly
so), like Wolf's desert stage. It doesn't have to be anything
fancy--just a stage perfect for the training mode.
- Remixed music or just new BGMs. Replace the MIDI sounding
tunes/sounds to something more real and musically pleasing.
- Dubbed or subtitled translation of Yu Suzuki's interview. People
know Nintendo has Miyamoto, but do people know Sega has Yu Suzuki? This
will help build a "brand" for Sega and Suzuki.
- Better presentation: the menu screens in the Japanese version look
terrible. How about something that looks more like Sonic Adventures?
- Complete movelists that could be accessed any time during the game,
similar to how Tekken has theirs implemented.
- A major coupon/voucher discount for an English VFtb guide. If
necessary, just get the publisher to take a copy of GAMEST or Famitsu's
guides for VFtb and translate it. I personally do not trust publications
like PRIMA and such to be able to do an adequate job.
- On-line capability. Even though veterans won't like dealing with
issues of ping and such, this is a good opportunity for beginners to
just get out there and sample the competition. I'm sure a kid from
Arizona in some town of 2000 people will appreciate having a real person
to play against somewhere else.
- A kick ass and pragmatic marketing campaign. This will the the topic
of a future editorial.
