TGS 2000: Sega Hands Out Playable Eternal
Arcadia
But
they won't give us a copy. Oh well . . . at least we have new
screens for
you!
March 31, 2000
Coverage
on Eternal Arcadia has gone pretty quiet of late here at
IGNDC, primarily due to Sega's not issueing a firm release date for
the game. However, the Japanese magazines have been featuring issue
by issue coverage of the game, revealing character details,
story-line tidbits, and everything you could possibly want to know.
So how far along is the title? Here's a little piece of news that
should get all you RPG-starved readers out there giddy as school
boys. Not only is the game on display at Tokyo Game Show in playable
form, but Sega is handing out demo copies at random to
attendees. Clearly, the title is far along enough that Sega and its
developers feel comfortable with the public getting the chance to
sink their teeth into the game beyond just a quick play test at a
trade show.
So will you be turning to IGNDC on Monday for some direct feed
movies of Eternal Arcadia? Alas, it's looking unlikely, as
try as we might, Sega won't give us a copy of the game. The company
seems to be shying away from members of the foreign press when it
comes to this, and we're more than a little peeved.
We're already busting out our yen in hopes of bribing "kawai"
(cute) Japanese children to get a copy of the demo for us. Will we
succeed? You'll find out on Monday. Till then, check out these
awesome new screens, which show off the game's ultra-cool cast of
characters and brilliant vistas.
Sega, Sega, Sega . . . what have we ever done to you?
