Sonic Adventure To Cease Production In Japan

That's right, SOJ won't be producing Sonic Adventure anymore! Find out what's going on inside.

September 9, 1999

Don't worry, Sega of Japan hasn't gone completely mad. In order to make way for their recently announced Sonic International, production of the original Sonic Adventure will cease by October 14th. Sonic Team recently spoke out regarding the announcement, stating that they don't want new Dreamcast owners to buy the original version. Instead they'd rather encourage fans to experience the improved release.

For the record, Sonic Adventure has managed to sell well extremely well throughout its lifetime. While critics were quick to judge the game's rushed release, the ratio for Sonic on the Dreamcast is now a staggering 3:1. Naka and his crew commented that they have gained a lot of experience from the title, and are confident that their future products will be even better. With four games in development, we certainly hope so.
