Samba De Commercial and Other News

Check out the Japanese Samba De Amigo TV ad along with ... Ricky Martin?

April 27, 2000

With today’s release of Samba De Amigo, the online Dreamcast home of Dricas has opened up a section for that game. So far in this section you can (if you are on the Japanese network) download the first bonus track, “Open Your Heart” from Sonic Adventure, and view other assorted Samba De Amigo information.

For the non-Japanese Dreamcast network users, the only treat we get is the commercial for Samba De Amigo. While it is no where near the Chu Chu Rocket ad in terms of hilarity, it has a healthy dose of high-pitched Japanese people trying to show off their Latino heat. You can view it for yourself below.

Also, Sega addressed the fact that the Ricky Martin songs featured in the arcade are not in the Dreamcast version. That all has to do with copyright issues, since the Ricky Martin songs all fall under the Sony Music label. Do you think there is any chance that Sony would allow their music to be used in order to help sell a Dreamcast title? Neither did we. Sega is still stating that they are trying to get the tracks “Livin’ La Vida Loca” and “The Cup Of Life” where they belong, with the home version of Samba.

No Livin La Samba Loca?

Despite that minor issue, the maraca-shakin’ insanity of Samba De Amigo is officially out, and we should have our thoughts on it shortly.
