| Help Ulala Dance her way to
freedom |
| New Space Channel 5 Details
It's
like Austin Powers on the DC. Check out our direct-feed movie, new
images, and Ulala details.
September 20, 1999
Sega
used the Tokyo Game Show to premiere Tetsuya Mizuguchi's latest
brainchild, Space Channel 5. The basis for the Sega
Rally creator's new game? Why, none other than interstellar
space dancing. As you may have read in Colin's initial TGS
impressions of the game, you play the role of Ulala, a space
reporter who's investing a sudden alien invasion. When you arrive on
the scene, you're accosted by a bunch of aliens, and must dance your
way to freedom.
It's
wacky, but it's also refreshing and unique - the kind of title that
the Dreamcast and arcade need. Starring in this game is, as
mentioned, the space reporter Ulala. This spandex clad babe was born
on May 30th of the year 2477 (AD), and her sign is Space Gemini (hmm
. . . I'm a Gemini, so I suppose in the future, I'd be a space
Gemini as well!). She works at Space Channel 5 (hence the title),
and originates from Earth. Other extraneous bits of information
include her B blood type, her Space Pink hair, and her e-mail
address: ualala@spacechannel5.com (I've already e-mailed her, and
hope to receive a response shortly).
Be sure and read Colin's impressions from the show floor,
which feature more details on the gameplay and the unique graphics
system (the mix of MPEG footage and realtime footage is bound to
please the tech-heads out there). We've also grabbed some
irresistable game footage directly from the Sega TGS promotional
video; this baby had our editors dancing through the office earlier
today - it should force the same reaction upon you. It's clear that
Tetsuya Mizuguchi is a big time fan of the shaggerific shag-fest of
a movie, Austin Powers.
