New Space Channel 5 Details and Products

This upcoming DC title is gettin' groovier with every passing day. Gotta love those t-shirts!

November 3, 1999

Sega has revealed a few details for their upcoming dance game Space Channel 5. If you've read our preview of the game, and our interview with producer Tetsuya Mizuguchi, you're up to date with most of the details on the game, which is set for a December 16th Japanese release at the price of 5800 YEN. The title will be only single player, and is being classified under the genre of "SF Comedy," with the "SF" standing for Science Fiction. We also have some rather unfortunate details regarding the use of the VMU. Apparently, the game will use the device exclusively for saving (5 blocks).

Sega has also passed on some cool shots of various products related to the game. Most of these were used by Sega exclusively at the Tokyo Game Show and the various other Space Channel 5 events.

These stylish T-Shirts were worn by Tokyo Game Show staff this past September. Baby blue and pink . . . our favorite colors!

Below, you see Naho-chan, the model portraying the Ulala character at TGS, sporting the full-on Ulala costume. Hey, if you manage to send us a picture of yourself in one of these costumes, you'll not only get Fruit of the Week award, but you'll be a prime candidate for Fruit of the Year as well!

These 18cm Morolien dolls can be used in various ways.

Finally, we come to this one of a kind Space Channel 5 balloon. This item would fit in nicely right next to the giant cardboard cutout of The Rock in our video capture room.
