Today
Sega is allowing the online community to get a look at the 1st
three Dreamcast teaser commercials before they start airing on
MTV tonight.
Sega is highlighting the commercials as a "virus" which
they want all human beings to be infected with. There is no
game footage in any of these teasers. The commercials,
instead, get you to think that the Dreamcast is "thinking."
The first teaser, titled Anxiety, focuses in on a player's
mouth. The player is talking as to how he can beat what he
playing, but warns you that the Dreamcast might hear you. If
it can hear you, then maybe it will use different tactics to
beat you. Hence, "it's thinking."
The second teaser, labelled REM, focuses on a player's eye.
The eye is frantically looking around as if he's trying to
think of how he can outsmart the Dreamcast. The commercial
then says "Outsmarting it...will only make it smarter." Then,
like in the previous commercial, it says "it's thinking."
The last teaser is named Claustrophobia. It shows a person
struggling to beat a game, and he realizes that the Dreamcast
is "alive." Then it follow with "Word...it knows it's alive."
If it's alive, "it's thinking."
The commercials are certainly unique, but will they work in
trying to get people interested in the Dreamcast? We'll have
to wait until September 9th to find that out.
Enjoy.
