D2 Reaches Beta
At
least that's what Kenji Eno, the game's producer, says. Details
inside.
October 12, 1999
It
looks like the first publicly unveiled Dreamcast title will be
arriving in Japan this year. D2, unveiled to the public last
May, is currently in beta form, and is scheduled for Japanese
release on December 23rd.
This information actually comes our way via Kenji Eno's diary
page (it's in Japanese, but you can see it by following
this link), which Mr. Eno chose to update for the first time
since July. It turns out that Eno came to America in July, as
revealed by the previous entry to his diary, which would explain our
having seen the man at Sega of America's corporate offices around
that time.
Anyhow, also revealed by Eno's diary entry is that the game is
currently undergoing bug testing, and that it may end up shipping as
five disks, although it currently stands at four. When you consider
that the game features full motion video for only the beginning and
ending sequences, filling up a full five GD-ROMS must be quite a
task.
Check back in the coming months for more details on D2 as
its release date finally approaches. The game is set for release in
America some time next year, through Sega itself.
