4X DC Memory Card Update
Hot Info Thursday, September 30, 1999 -- 1:00:00 PM By: Lagi
Finally, some reliable and solid information on the new Dreamcast 4X memory card which I reported on earlier this week. First of all, I was mistaken (me, wrong, never!) in calling the unit a VMU - VMU implies Visual, this memory card has no LCD screen. Second of all, the new memory cards are not 4 Megabytes, they are just 4X bigger than regular VMUs. This means they have 800 blocks instead of 200; this amount of memory storage is known as 4 Megabits. Also, as reported earlier, these cards can be hooked up to computers so you can upload and download save files. This means UNLIMITED save space using your computer's hard drive as well as the ability to e-mail or post saves on websites (something we can't do with Sega's current VMU and web browser arrangement).

Some more good news - you won't have to import these puppies! A company called Level Six will be releasing these 4X memory cards in the USA via their website (http://www.levelsix.com/) starting on October 7th. Price ranges from $25 to $29 depending on the number of cards purchased. Look for a hands-on report soon.
