100,000 European Dreamcasts Sold On First Day

Breaking new records, can you say "instant success"?

October 15, 1999

As predicted just before the Dreamcast went on sale, over 100,000 machines were sold on the first day! Thrilled with the initial sales, Jean Francois Cecillon from Sega Europe commented, "The industry has never witnessed such enthusiasm for a new games console. I am delighted that our confidence is so widely shared with our European customers."

Once again, we'd like to congratulate Sega Europe on an excellent launch. With the exception of a few shortages, everything went according to plan. With over fourty games scheduled for release by Christmas, Sony and Nintendo are going to have their work cut out over the shopping season. Of course, as extreme Sega worshipers, who are we to complain?
