SEGA, DREAMCAST MAGAZINE AND AT&T SONIC 2K CONTEST OFFICIAL RULES 1. ELIGIBILITY: Open to U.S. residents with a Sega Dreamcast console, Sonic Adventure GD-ROM, Internet Access and a valid email address may enter this contest, except that children under the age of 13 must have their parent's permission to enter. Employees of Sega of America, Inc., AT&T or Dreamcast Magazine ("Sponsors") and their immediate family members and Sponsors' respective affiliates and parents are not eligible. This contest is void where prohibited. 2. For each of the three contests, Sponsors will award 15 year-long Dreamcast Magazine subscriptions, 19 Dreamcast games, 5 AT&T Premium Packages consisting of ISP for a year. Approximate retail value of all prizes is $1,108.81. 3. HOW TO PARTICIPATE: To enter, use your Sega Dreamcast console and Sonic Adventure game to download special Sonic Adventure Minigames from the internet. These special minigames contain all new objectives and challenges. Play the special minigames and your name and afterwards upload your Name and Times on the Sonic Adventure Homepage. The objective of each contest is to finish the Download Minigame in the fastest time possible. You can play each minigame as many times as you would like. Sponsors are not responsible for game entries that are late, lost, incomplete or misdirected due to transmission and/or computer error. Game entries become the property of Sponsors and will not be returned. 4. CONTEST DURATION: To enter, use your Sega Dreamcast console and Sonic Adventure game to download special Sonic Adventure levels from the internet. These special levels contain all new courses with new objectives and challenges. Play the special levels and your name and times will be automatically posted to the Sonic Adventure website. CONTEST DURATION: The first contest runs from October 29, 1999 to November 19, 1999. The second contest runs from November 26, 1999 to December 17, 1999. The third contest runs from December 24, 1999 to January 14, 2000. The contest closes at 11:59 p.m. PST on the last day. 5. ODDS OF WINNING: Odds of winning depend on the number of entries received, which is anticipated to be approximately 1: 200. 6. SELECTION OF WINNERS: Approximately one week after the end of each contest, Sponsors will rank all eligible game entries on the basis of fastest time. Prizes will be awarded to the top 35 finishers in each contest. Winners will be notified via email and/or telephone call. Prizes not claimed within 30 days of notification will be forfeited and awarded to an alternate winner. Prizes won by minors may be awarded in the name of a parent or legal guardian. Allow 4-6 weeks for delivery of prizes. 7. CONDITIONS: By entering the contest, participants (and, if minors, their parents/legal guardians) agree to abide by and be bound by these Official Rules. Participants agree not to email or otherwise contact any sponsor regarding the rakings, except to visit the sega.com website. Sponsors reserve the right to disqualify any participant who does so. Sponsors are not liable in any way for damage, loss or injury resulting from misdirected or incomplete entries or acceptance, use or misuse of the prize. Sponsors and their agencies are not responsible for technical, hardware, software or telephone malfunctions of any kind, lost or unavailable network connections, or failed, incorrect, incomplete, inaccurate, garbled or delayed electronic communications caused by the sender, or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in this contest which may limit the ability to play or participate, or by any human error which may occur in the processing of the entries in this contest. If, for any reason, (including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other cause beyond the control of Sega which corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this contest), this contest is not capable of being conducted as described in these rules, Sponsors shall have the right, at its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the contest. Winner assumes liability for injuries caused or claimed to be caused by participation in this contest or the use or misuse of any prize. Winner will be required to execute an affidavit or eligibility and release, which must be completed and returned within 21 days of notification or an alternate winner may be selected. Taxes and additional shipping, handling and delivery fees in excess of prize amount, if any, are the sole responsibility of the prize winner. No substitution of prize is allowed, except by Sponsors, which may substitute a prize for a prize of equal or greater value. By accepting a prize, winner grants Sponsors permission for the use of his or her name and/or photograph for advertising and promotional purposes without additional compensation, except where prohibited by law. This contest is subject to all federal, state and local laws and is void where prohibited. 8.
