Loungesong, that's exactly the kind of horrifying situation most of us are so up in arms about. These cases get swept under the rug time and time again. Something needs to be done now.

Wow! I just read this. What the hell was this guy thinking? I would venture to say drungs could have been invovled.

I was a witness for a woman who was falsely accused of shoplifting in a Macy's about six years ago. I was coming in the store as she was coming out and a HUGE plain clothes security guard grabbed her so hard her jacket and shirt tore off. Then when she started screaming another guy came over, put her on the ground, and they had about 500 lbs of their knees on top of her back. She suffered a LOT of legit injuries and it turned out someone WAS stealing, but the idiot guard grabbed the wrong woman.

She got about 300K in damages out of them and I think the second guard went to jail for battery.

In my area, Georgia, Circuit City definitely treats you better than Best Buys, IMHO. Not that Best Buys has done anything personally bad to me, it just that Circuit City has been more helpful to me on a personal basis. I think it mainly concerns who is managing it, either from the local store level or the district level, on how the store relates to it's customers. I still go to both stores.
I have been to great McDonald's and I have been to bad McDonald's.

Would have been funnier if a fist fight broke out in the store

OP did the right thing not to push/hit back. that's what the police are for.

OP could have push/hit back as self defense (since he did pay for everything and the guys are ganging up on him)

Lawsuit first policy later. There is an order of operation and they will as mentioned "promise you the world" and deliver jack. You have just stumbled onto a super genuine mega hot deal, consider the way and position they put you in - held against your will, shoved in front of strangers causing severe humilation. Your responseablity as a FWer is to contact an attorney and sue. May want to contact SuckIsStaples (usually found in the finance form) for a referral of a good firm or the type of guy you are looking for.

Both?

It is not only unreasonable what happened but is unlawful as well to hold someone with out cause. They made a mistake in judgement and just like customers who make mistakes in judgements, they pay for those mistakes. No such policy was ever in place which permitted a customer to be held against there will after having made a purchase which wwas excepted by the store.

Wow, maybe it's time to get the Mods in here or remove this thread.

For all we know this could be one of the most elaborate hoaxes created just to tarnish CC's rep.
Maybe the guy was pissed at CC and this is his way of getting back at them. FW may be opening themselves up for a defamation lawsuit by allowing this to continue without any proof whatsoever!

Tim you hear this?

R U 4 real or are u really that naive little girl?

Let me ask everyone here a question - would you prefer Circuit City to pay out a single cash settlement to one customer who was treated improperly, or would you prefer Circuit City to create a formal plan (and implement it) to improve their customer relations and management training?

I would really appreciate opinions on the above question.

I agree a formal plan serves all the best, but, the only way to do this is to get their attention. Unfortunately Corps. like CC only take such actions after they get sued. It's the only way to get their attention to a serious matter.

As far as all the post saying pity the aggressors family life, he needs to be taught to do things properly. He brought it on himself. If he's that way to customers I can only imagine what he's like to his family.

My thoughts exactly Uneasy, and love the name you chose to use on FW.

I also smell CC ranks in here, new members knowing Tim, unlikely, supporting CC after reading the story, unlikely, undefined is a sr 1k member who has been around the block. We already have a previous example with jigglypuff about another manager being rude. Unless both are conspiring to lie to us with their squeeky clean records, I believe their stories

Go get them undefined (termination, lawsuit, police report, you have to remember, if it was ur wife, u would have fought back, protect the rest of our consumers and do ur duty)

This is also in deal discussion, nothing is being endorced as undefined said, this is listed as a discussion, and we have every right to discuss any deal related matter in this thread provided that all rules of FW are followed (which they are)

Get a lawyer.CC got huge pockets and as of Jan 1.liability laws will limit their judgement. Clear you were detained without cause. Hope you didn't sign a waiver.

I completely agree with this. CC isn't going to do anything unless they are forced to. Only when they realize that it's cheaper to train employees than it is to settle lawsuits will things change. This is the nature of a giant corporation. If you have mixed emotions about profiting from this episode, donate any proceeds to charity.

To the OP just realize that if you proceed you might be ruining x-mas for another family. Also think about working 60+ hours weeks for "the man" since well before Thanksgiving, trying to deal with underpaid employees and upset customers, and missing your own family. This is only a small part of how retail employees gets stressed out. I worked in retail management for 6 months after graduating from college with a 4 year degree. I quickly switched jobs when I was offered a job with the federal govt. Not everyone is this lucky. I'm sure the managers who acted so ignorant were wrong, but if they are fired it really doesn't solve the culture that retail corporations are trying to promote of us against the devils. I am very impressed that you kept your cool as well as you did. It might be easier for me to say just to let things slide since I'm not in the situation, but at least think twice about getting these people fired right before x-mas.

Did the management think twice before the assault?

wow,

this is an amazing story. I would have expected this sort of thing to happen at BB rather than at CC. My local CC is usually very nice and helpful. I've witnessed a heated dispute with a costumer and the store manager at my local BB before. the guy was just really pissed off about his cell phone he bought that broke. When he tried to get a replacement under PSP, BB gave him a crap phone not worth the previous phone he had. The guy got upset and eventually started yelling at the manager. The guy ultimately ended up getting kicked out of the store. Then, few months later, there was a change of management along with a new manager. Dont know if that had anything to do with that. Nevertheless, the new BB didnt get any better and is just as tight-a-ssed.

keep us updated on the story please.
