Everyone - please. Legal (in your state) or not, you should not be punching store employees. That should go without saying.

Let me give this as an example - if you are walking down the street and someone rips a bag from you hand, is it OK for you to beat them up to get it back? In most places that I have lived you are allowed to defend your real property, and you are allowed to defend yourself and others from harm. You can't attack someone for petty theft.

BTW, CC zucks, CC zucks CC zucks...

I've stopped buying from them since last year's holiday season, when they ahd a posted policy of 30 days, and they refused to honor that outright. I am still fighting with my credit card company and have vowed to NEVER NEVER NEVER buy from Crooked City .

Yes, you can use (non-deadly) physical force to retain property immediately after a robbery.

I hate all of these stores, BB,CC,Cusa, omax, odepot,Staples etc. They all are run by a bunch of people who don't have a clue. They do not teach manners, these kids don't give a crap about the customers. I hope CC gets what they deserve. It is futile to ask questions, every time I ask they either pick up the box and start reading or just read what is on the tag, hell I can do that. I commend the op on his resolve, it is not your fault they are idiots. Fatwallet catches these jerks when they make mistakes and I love it.

That's why FRY's rules. They have really smart employees and usually good deals. You might not get the hottest deal on products, but they definately will help you out more than any other place. I went in once to ask about some HDTV's and the guy said to not buy it right now, because they are too expensive, and to come in a few months from now because of their seasonal sales. I mean, that was impressive, as CC or BB would have told me to buy something that very day.

Now, I only go to CC or BB to get sick deals, where they'll most likely lose their margins.

OP, I highly recommend you consider the new Hitachi Cineform HDTV models. They use a new state of the art light engine, and the picture quality is unbelievable. It is an LCD RP, but looks better than the Samsung DLP. This is the TV you should get if you get that enormous GC from CC for your troubles.

About 8 out 10 people would have punched that store director in the face, and then gotten arrested by CC security. You are really smart you didn't do anything but stand there and argue. It is quite embarrasing to be accused by the CC management for being a theif in front of 20 random people. I would do whatever I can to make sure that store director gets what he deserves. People like that aren't just aholes in their work, but also in normal day to day life. He's probably the type of guy to get road rage and kill someone, or sue the pants off someone in an accident.

Your patient is a good virtue, but now is the time to act and teach that guy a lesson.

Thanks for the recommendation, but I'm not sure where I would put another TV! (That, and my wife would not speak to me if I put another TV in the house)

We already built a home theater featuring a Sony VPL-HS20 High Definition projector throwing a 115" image on a nice screen. That is after buying a 51" Hitachi HDTV for the living room. She's been understanding enough with regards to televisions

We worked together for 5 months to build the home theater. It was her "gift" (in understanding my desire for it) to me. Very cool experience. Completely off topic, but relevant to the remodel process - if you are going to paint with a dark color, buy a tinted primer! It took five coats of paint (over 1000sq ft over area painted, including ceilings) to learn that lesson.

Frys is commission based... that makes ALL the difference. It's good that we're not commission based though.

Must've been some managers way of recovering the losses without resorting to violence. That better be a single occurance otherwise CC's corporate office will be flooded with complaints.

You should be sure to contact Circuit City about this also (and consider contacting your local Attorney General's office). B/c your credit card company may choose to absorb the cost of the credit adjustment if it's less than $30 (they will often do that rather than deal with the cost of pursuing an investigation). Thus, CC might not be penalized at all but the cost will be passed on to credit card customers essentially. It's unbelievably bad for a merchant to purposefully create additional charges on a credit card. We're talking major fraud. You should make a big fuss about this. . . .
