The neck crack is basically a novelty though. Especially since the game is about stealth, not about taking people out. Devoting a whole button to an action thats not even a big part of the game (especially when the controller isn't that well set up for the game) wouldn't be that smart.

The PS2 version relied on a lot of awkward "button tapping" in lieu of not having real analog triggers/clickdown to boot which could be remedied here.
Huh? Aside from the neck crack, how was there a lot of awkward button tapping? Why would you even need an analog trigger for cracking a neck? Why not just hold down the button for a few seconds....like Snake said, it's a novelty that doesn't need to be use a shoulder button.

I wasn't bothering with that neck crap anyway beyond the first stage. What's the point when you have guns? :)

I always generally fire off a shot (unintentionally) when switching from FP view back to normal view. It gets really, really annoying because you have to be really careful how hard you press.

How? When you switch into FP view you don't even use the fire button. And when you do, you have to basically want to fire for it to do that. When you pull up the gun it won't fire until you press the button again. I remember doing it several times and then realising there's another gaurd and then I just drop the gun back down.

I think the best part of this news is that SSX and I no longer need to quivel about Konami's Cube support.

Here's hoping that it's an MGS remake and not yet another port of MGS2. Not only do I feel MGS is far superior to MGS2 in many areas, but a port of MGS2 this late would do jack squat, and I'm sure both Konami and Nintendo know that.

They could have made that neck breaking more elegant if they assigned the neck-break to L3, instead of repeated tapping of square button. You press square to hold the hostage, then click the L3 to break his neck. Anyways, that function wasn't very useful to begin with so they probably never gave it much thought.

Btw, I honestly don't understand how could a bullet be fired accidentaly while switching from 3rd to 1st persone view?

I doubt it's that. Miyamoto seemed to make out Nintendo and Konami are working on it together.

That most likely means Nintendo is probably paying for development, or even possibly publishing it.

Everytime Miyamoto says we and x company, it mostly means "we Nintendo and Konami have come to an agreement". It seriously is insane to think every usage of the word means Miyamoto is co-developing the games.. especially something like Kojima's MGS (which no one but him touches) or EA Sports.

Yeah, to me this just comes off like more useless crap from lying European Nintendo fansites. If Gamespot and IGN don't pick up on it in a day or two, then I'll probably disregard it.

I think this is just the thing, jumping into conclusions. Remember where this took us on December. Many of us, including myself, knew for a fact that all European Nintendo execs were called into NOE hq for a briefing. Everyone assumed the m3g4t()n, mergers and whatever. And what it was, obviously, was about Game Boy Advance SP - an exec confirmed this to me after the announcement. So, no Capcom/Konami buyout, no proprietary PlayStation technology.

The lesson is to be media critical.

Naw, nothing suspect about it. :) Even if you weren't Italian, you could run an old Miyamoto interview into an auto-translator and add in some crap about Metal Gear. Bigger frauds have been perpetrated..

So? Don't you think that if it was true and if the news broke out on Monday that by now every other reliable site would have reported this, just like the new Castlevania news?

To me it sounds fishy and unreliable, especially after all the hoaxes, false reports, and Nintendo rumors in the past months.

To hell with MGS, I hope to see a Castlevania game at e3. Or perhaps another one of their good forgotten games. (ZAMN!ZAMN) The EA thing is interesting, I wonder if it will use the E-Reader and coded player cards?

I'm talking about the guy that supposedly posted the entire text of the interview.....

Zaks was implying that this must be true because who would make up the entire interview like that....and I was pointing out that there was no link for the interview whatsoever.

I got no idea what these "It's milhouse!" revelations are about.

They are about watching out when milhouse, Konami and big news appear in the same context.

That's quite possibly the coolest idea I've ever heard. Nintendo need to give you a job.

Anyway, if this news is true, I hope it's a remake of MGS. Enjoyed that much more than I did MGS2 & Substance.

Just one more thing to consider. A while back, Konami's website invited Gamecubers to their board to talk about the support Konami had been giving the GCN up to that point. There was much bitching and flaming, and in the end Konami said to be patient and something big was coming for E3. Coinkidink? I think not :)

Here...

quote:
Konami Admin says... .... I will say this though, everyone should just wait till E3 before commenting on Konami's (Gamecube) line-up:)

and another...

quote:
The days of single platform releases may come to and end sooner than you think!:)

and when someone asked if the E3 surprise was a GCN version of Boktai (Kojima's sunlight GBA game...)

quote:
As for what Booser is talking about, I can honestly say that I am not aware of any *current* GC version of BOKTAI. I say *current* because there's no telling what Mr. Kojima has planned as he's usually pretty secretive, but I'm pretty positive that its for GBA only for now. Which means, that too is not what I am anxious for at E3

Of course that may have just been a clueless message board admin trying to stop a flame war and get people to STFU *shrug*

The first reply by Craddock Zooi is deliciously ironic and deliciously appropriate, as this may end up being another "Megaton". Which is to say, it may be a bunch of speculative hogwash that has everybody on the edge of their seats for days, and then nothing comes of it.

As usual, time will solve the mystery. Gamespot seems to be finished with their evening update....still no confirmation. ;)
