Having zero interest in the series, I may just be forced to rent this game now that I have the ability to play it! That is, if this is real.

I enjoyed MGS but not MGS2. Is there any word if this is that rumored remake? I hope its just not some lame version Nintendo has worked so hard to get (FFCC comes to mind).

Not a big surprise at all. As long as it doesn't mess with the development of MG5, then go for it.

the texte CLEARLY says it's a NEW episode of Metal Gear Solid. Which means it's NOT a remake.

Heh, I would enjoy that actually. I remember a guy at the IGN boards would do an update about once a month about progress on the remake but no one believed him. I just wonder if he was right.

No it doesn't. It says Nintendo are working with Konami on a MGS game. It doesn't clearly say its new at all.

Cool if true.

Say what you want but Nintendo has been absolutely kicking ass at coming up with collaborations with the big third-party publishers.

I don't know if neccessarily this means MGS remake though. It might something new (maybe not neccessarily MG5, but something else in the MGS series).

This is totally what I think Nintendo should be doing anyway.

F-ck 80% of the third-party community.

Capcom, Konami, Sega, Square-Enix, and EA are the most important, secure good relationships with them and the rest is gravy.

Stronger relationships with EA would be most ideal.

Well before the english translation, the french people say that it's a NEW episode. That's really messed up.

Later on, they say in the english translation that Konami is workin on Metal Gear Solid for GC. Sure it's comin on the Cube but how can you be sure it's a remake.

True, but hoping for remakes of the original 2 games might be hoping for a bit too much. Unless this is for GBA. :(

MG GB sold pretty badly so I doubt Konami really wants to do another one of those.

"say that Konami is workin on Metal Gear Solid for GC. Sure it's comin on the Cube but how can you be sure it's a remake."

MG5 is for the PS2, and there's no way that Kojima is gonna start up 2 brand new MG games at 1 time. Just watch the Document of MGS2 and you'll know why.

This is good news. I was thinking of picking up Metal Gear Solid for the PSX but might as well wait for the remake.

Since EA's relationship with Square is coming to an end, I wouldn't be surprised if they're looking for a new Japanese partner. "Nintendo EA" anybody? *laughs all the way to the crazy farm*

Nintendo's been pretty good about not settling for just ports though. Final Fantasy, Virtua Fighter, Resident Evil, Namco's RPGs, etc. are all on the Cube or coming too, but none of those could really be considered "hand me down" ports.

And Miyamoto in the same interview went on a whole tirade about not having just ports (ie: multiplatform titles).

My guess is if the story is legit it'll probably be something substantially new.

Maybe Konami will jump on the bandwagon with the "Konami 5," for the good of the industry!

I somehow doubt that Konami, after such meagre support thus far, would give the Cube a new Metal Gear. A remake, maybe. A port, more likely. A port would be somewhat disappointing, but let's not get our hopes up, eh?

For those of you who like to expect the absolute worst so you're always pleasantly surprised and never disappointed, get into your mind that we'll end up playing Metal Gear Mickey as Solid Mouse.
