Well, maybe not a profit, but certainly more revenue... that box up
at the top ain't there for aesthetics. Considering how fast THIS
page goes and how thread pages are broken up, it's probably a
significant chunk too; we provide an awful lot of free content for
GA.
That being said, the people who write for GA do it for free as
well, so don't go bitching to Marty or Ryan about it.

I was wondering about this too. But my question was do they get paid
for banners served, or banners clicked? I never click them, but if
it helps out the GA staff I will start.

Don't quote me on this, but from what I understand the founding
fathers of GA are none other than current EGM employees Sam Kennedy
and Greg Sewart. Been around for close to 4 years now and since
then, we've been through many changes, as you can probably tell from
the front page. (Anyone else remember the old format of the page?..)
Anyways, I'm just glad to be a part of it all. Wouldn't trade it
for anything.

I just started playing SotN again the other day, and figured out
(with one of my lifelines, a phoned friend) how to get down to
Abandoned Mine... soon I'll have Spikebuster and be all up in that
azz. Or... kind of... like, just wandering around a castle...

Yep, Sam Kennedy's the man. He and Greg left Gaming Enthusiast
Online and formed Gaming Age Online, and then purged the internet of
its best writers so they'd have some good content to throw on the
page. (Or something along those lines).
I believe, as far as the ads are concerned, we only get money if
you click on them. I'm not 100 percent sure, but I seem to recall
that being said in a conversation with Jim. So, feel free to click
away! I do
Oh..and I've been around since 1997 on GA, incase anyone gives a
rip.

Well I may have only worked here for about a year and a half, but I
have been around the gang since before GEO, which was a
loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time ago.
