Although that does look good, I can live without Square on GBA and I
still have no doubt that GBA will kill Wonderswan Color. GBA has
Enix, Game Arts, Natsume, etc, etc. I'll be perfectly happy with my
GBA.

WHOA! I didn't know that it was a remake. Cool, a Crazy Pony...nice
names for the characters, good ol' AAAA and stuff. I just thought
that it was a rerelease, not a remake. That looks FF6 quality, for
the characters' sprites at least. Any news on price (for system
and games), and a release date? I can live without Square on GBA
(would be nice tho), and on WSC... Please tell me you know any
extra info, Folken. Oh yeah, do you have any of those
Maxi-Single CD's? I gotta question about them.

Hey, that's pretty cool. It looks just like Final Fantasy III on
SNES. Too bad about the glare though.

Hey red, you can find anything you want on the WS color over at
Famitsu...
The price is around 65 bucks (including an FF game I believe)...
Anyone thinking that this baby won't sell in japan is out of
their minds. Honestly, it won't touch GBA in terms of profit but it
will do just fine IMHO

Again, the game (according to famitus) will be included and will be
a FF game, but no more detail on the game itself...
The price is set in stone at around 65 us dollars.
Release date is later this year (I believe its around december
but Ill have to double check).

no no no no no
The Wonderswan color ITSELF is 6800 yen.
There will be a special bundle w/Final Fantasy released at the
same time (it is a launch title) for 9999 Yen (closer to $100 than
$65). Final Fantasy by itself will cost 4800 Yen.

I have held a Wonderswan before. The shape of the original is
exactly the same as the new color one.
Button layout was fine. I had a weird time figuring out which
d-pad is default, but everything felt confortable in my hands. Much
better than it looks. Oh, and the game I played was one of the SD
Super Robot Wars titles in case you were wondering. (I spent about 5
minutes playing the thing and that's it)

Just read Folken's post which answered my last question. What good
is it to have two sets of d-pads on the same side? Instead of making
hokey controls, what they should have done is make some more regular
buttons. That way games like Street Fighter will feel right at home.

Doubtful Red. The game was supposed to hit the Wonderswan in May. I
dont think it did....
It's possible Square cancelled the game and instead focused all
it's energy on the enhanced color re-releases of FF1-3 for the new
Color system.
Of course, I coudl be wrong, and the game may be on store shelves
right now out there, but I doubt it is. Assuming the FF1-3 sell
well, it is possible Square may release FF4 later i color enhanced
form as well...(Definately would be hardtype. Easytpe was released
under a different subtitle for them out there. But FF4 is definately
Hardtype)
Oh and I also dug up a Klonoa pic for Wonderswan I will post
shortly....

Folken: The president of Bandai stated at the unveiling of the WSC
that Square intends to port Final Fantasies I through VI to the
console as well as the Seiken and Saga series.

Phantom: I severely doubt anyone thinks Wonder Swan won't get it's
butt mopped all over the floor by Gameboy: Advance.
I'd buy a Wonder Swan, if it came out here with Final Fantasy IV
or VI the only ones I like, otherwise I wouldn't go to the trouble
of importing one, not when I have FFIV on SNES already.

Yeah, it might get its butt kicked eventually. But with Square on
its side, nothing will stop it from giving the GBA a run for its
money.

then that makes a big part of my wishes come true, so sign me

LOL. Why are some people so happy to say that the GBA will "kill"
the Wonderswan? Imagine if someone said that the PS2/GC/Xbox would
kill every other consoles? We'd have a nice flamewar over that. I
guess it's because Bandai isn't the first company that pops into
your mind when thinking about videogames.
Personally, I think any kind of competition in the handheld
market is welcome. And the Wonderswan Color will do relatively well,
just like its predecessor did, as it is aimed at a different
audience.

I completely agree. If Wonderswan was to give the GB some serious
competition, maybe we will finally be able to see portable game
prices drop. Gameboy game prices have been stagnated for years due
to Nintendo's monapoly on the market.

Oh, and SotN was also ported to the system. I am not sure if it
released or got cancelled or what. I am too tired to find a pic
right now, but I do know it was planned. (Seen the pics)
Still, Wonderswan was never that popular in Japan. It had hype
when it released and did somewhat well in the beginning, but ever
since sales have dropped dramatically. It did have VERY strong
support(hence the hype), but came at a bad time. I hardly saw many
stores carrying the console or games there. I really hope for the
vest from the Color version and I don't WISH it to fail, but I
really have a feeling GBA will overshadow this machine, even there.
You never know though... Prove me wrong Bandai!
Besides, I am with Scarlet. Just the fact that Seiken Densetsu 2
and FF1-6 will be arriving on the machine is enough for me. I would
love to play those games portable!
