Well, I just came pack from EB and here is what is known so far.
The store here in Houston has a total of 150 pre-orders. They
made that there limit.
Now, they are saying they will probably only get about 75, half
the total, at best.
She then said that about 22 had paid off their systems in full
and that they would go in order from the first one who paid in full
and work there way down the list.
They have been notifying people by phone or as they stop in and
have been telling them the deal.
Apparently, all the managers will be on a conference call from
Sony tomorrow and then they should know for sure what the allotment
situation will be.
Well, I am #7 on the paid in full list so I feel pretty safe.
Still, I plan on being there first thing anyway.

This whole "maybe you'll get one, maybe you won't" thing with the
PS2 launch is pathetic. I'm just glad I'm not worrying about the
launch right now.

That's plain stupid.. the people who pre-ordered first should get it
first instead of the people who paid in full. That's hella screwed
up!
Is there a possibility that Sony could be lying about
the whole 500,000 units thing so everyone can scramble to try to get
their own units??! Then have much more than 500k units at launch?!!

Well, I was #18 on the pre-order list.
Not my fault if people do not want to get off their lazy asses
too pay it off.

I am so glad I don't have to deal with this hassle. I already went
through this once in my life with N64 and I don't need that to
happen again.

oooh...this is funny!!! I was literally the LAST person on the
pre-order list over at my EB in NYC...
But now that I have put down all of the money, im number 15...
oh well, tough luck...

Uhmm, I read somewhere that Sony is taking 1/3 of the 500k and will
be selling it thru playstation.com? So there will only be 350,000
allocated to the shops ?

I'm 1st at my Local EB!!! At first when I paid it off they wouldn't
tell me where I was. Then I said my I please talk to a manager then.
The manager came out and said if u really really have to know ur 1st
on the new list of people who have paid it off!! So I was like thank
you. I am very happy!!

Heck I'd just do exactly what I did on the DC launch. Just walk into
a Wal-Mart and pick one off the shelf and head to the register.
But I'm not to hyped up for the PS2, so I'll just buy one when
the price goes down.
